Visitors who come to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in the coming days will see two new animals.

Two new female gorillas will join the zoo's long-term resident "Mokolo", a 30-year-old male silverback gorilla.

Fredrika or "Freddy" is a 43-year-old female coming from Zoo Miami in Florida and Kebi Moya or "Kebi" is a 26-year-old female who is coming from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell.

The two gorillas were chosen based on an examination of their social experience and behavioral characteristics.

The intentional social structure fo multiple female gorillas with one male gorilla is reflective of social groups in the wild.

Both Fredrika and Kebi Moya were introduced to each other several weeks prior to meeting Mokolo.

Visitors can come to the zoo on September 24 to celebrate World Gorilla Day and see a video to learn more about the gorillas through an introduction video.

In the coming weeks, the zoo will provide additional details of when the public can see the gorillas.
