15 things to do this weekend in Northeast Ohio: October 27-29

While the weekend is filled with Halloween-related activities in Northeast Ohio, there's still a bunch of events happening that are unrelated to Halloween.

So, if you need a break from Halloween festivities, find everything from a mac and cheese bake-off to a Sunday brunch with Irish music.

Balance & Brews

Coffee and yoga? Yes, please! Join Yoga instructor Anna for this 60 minute, all level yoga class. Participants get a free bag of coffee to go.

Planting with a Purpose

Beautifying the city with one plant at a time. Local organizations are teaming up to plant 4,000 plants and shrubs in six parks throughout the city. Those looking to get service hours or lend a helping hand are welcome to join.

Liminality-open mic 

Cleveland artist Jesse Smith will be showing his work for the very first time at Negative Space in Cleveland's AsiaTown Center. Smith has created pieces to reflect the theme of Halloween.

Open Projector Night at Happy Dog

Produced by the Museum of Contemporary Art, this experimental, community-driven series that allows artists and other creative professionals to feature their in-progress or completed videos in front of a friendly audience.  All works are under 10-minutes.

Kegs & Eggs Tailgate Party

The Browns may be on a losing streak but they give a good reason to have kegs and eggs first thing in the morning. Local pizzerias are creating special breakfast pizzas to devour. While there is no promise of a win, there is a promise of good food, music and brews to enjoy.

Mac & Cheese Bake Off!

It's a universal favorite: creamy, cheesy Mac & Cheese. This bake-off is a potluck style, first-come, first-served event. Everyone is included, there are traditional, gluten-free and vegan dishes. If you're interested in showing off your mac and cheese creation, contact the coordinators here. The best vegan dish and the best traditional dish will receive a swag bag and a gift card! All proceeds from general admission go to Flaming River Con— an LGTBQIA focused geek convention coming to Cleveland in 2018.

Irish Brunch with The Portersharks

Limited canned beer release and Cleveland Craft Beer Community Meet Up

Start Sunday Funday off right. Five beers are fresh off the canning line and customers can have the first taste at Masthead Brewery. Fleeb juice New England IPA, Midwest Red IPA and Sleigh All Day Red IPA are available. Head brewer Mike Pelechaty will be there to answer any questions about the beers.

Calling Home the Dead-Free Screening

Kicking off Dia de Muertos Ohio celebration, Capitol Theatre is  offering a free documentary screening of "Calling Home the Dead." Anyone wearing Day of the Dead makeup or clothing will get $1 off popcorn.

Military Relics and Antiques Show

It's an antique collector's dream. Over 180 tables of military antiques and relics are on sale by private collectors and dealers. All eras, nations and types of militia memorabilia are for sale.

Bikes Come out at Midnight Ride

Ride out into the night with fellow Clevelanders. Everyone is welcome to join. There are no set route plans but just good old fashion bike riding on the towpath.

Hiking the Hills

The fall foliage provides a good reason to get outside and explore some of the trails located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Join an experienced ranger for a 7-mile hike on the unpaved, hilly Salt Run and Lake and Pine Grove Trails.

Root to Rise: Benefit for Puerto Rico

Following the devastation left by Hurricane Maria, much of Puerto Rico is still in the early recovering and rebuilding stages. The instructor of the yoga class called Puerto Rico home for 8 years. The class will be 75-minutes of all-level vinyasa flow class.
