A group of students will be taking the stage at Severance Hall tonight with a big music superstar.

The nearly 200 students of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra pair up with a music legend every year as a way for the students to learn how to perform and be a professional musician.

Conductor Liza Grossman conducts the youth orchestra and she said getting a star like Melissa Etheridge has been in the works for quite some time.

She has dreamed about the day Etheridge would make it to Severance Hall just over 12 years ago.

Because of timing and Etheridge's busy schedule, they were unable to make it happen until now.

The E-Team spoke exclusively with Etheridge about her experience in Cleveland and working with a group of talented youth.

"The excitement of doing this and doing all of my work I'm a little tongue tied when it comes to actually getting in here and doing this with the kids its a really special performance," said Etheridge.

The concerts theme tonight is pulse, named after a song she wrote in honor of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting that left dozens dead.

The concert starts at 7:30 tonight at Severance Hall. Buy you tickets here.
