Cleveland Metropolitan School District to hold state of schools address

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Metropolitan School District will hold its annual state of the schools address Wednesday at the Cleveland Public Auditorium at noon.

CEO Eric Gordon is expected to discuss how the district is doing this school year ever since voters passed a levy in November. It was the first levy passed for CMSD since 1996 and it's main purpose was to fund the Cleveland Plan for Education Reform.

This month, NewsChannel5 reported, tax dollars from the levy has helped the district hire 100 to 150 new teachers. As a result, that's kept class sizes down.

Gordon is expected to also talk about goals of Cleveland schools when it comes to student achievement.
