Akron police are looking for a man accused of kidnapping his ex-wife and their three children and punching one of the children in the face.

According to Akron police, on Wednesday, the 28-year-old woman and three children — ages 4, 7 and 8 — were picked up at a park in East Canton and brought to a home in the 300 block of Talbot Avenue.

Dontrell D. Johnson, 34, allegedly locked the woman in the basement and attempted to sexually assault her. Police said she was let out of the basement the next day to call friends but she wasn't allowed to leave.

According to police, Johnson also punched one of the children — a 7-year-boy — in the face for asking for something to eat.

Police signed warrants for abduction, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of domestic violence and three counts of child endangering for Johnson.

Anyone who has any information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490; the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-866-4-WANTED; or the Summit County Crimestoppers Inc. at 330-434-COPS.  You can also text TIPSCO with your tips to 274637 (Crimes).
