Four people were able to escape their burning North Portage Path Akron home early Friday.
AKRON, Ohio - An Akron family of four was able to escape their burning North Portage Path home just before 2:30 a.m. Friday.
According to firefighters, the two adults and two kids were awoken by smoke detectors going off and were able to gather their pets and escape the burning home.
Firefighters didn't know what type of pets or how many were in the home but said that they were all doing fine.
The home suffered heavy damage to the second and third floors but firefighters said they were not sure where the fire started.
The cause is under investigation.
North Portage Path was closed between Wye Drive and Dopler Street during the fire. It has now reopened.
