CLEVELAND - Cleveland police arrested three men that were driving a truck full of manhole covers near East 66th and Hubbard Avenue around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
According to police, officers were on patrol when they stopped a suspicious truck. When officers walked up to the truck, they found around 10 large steal manhole covers and storm water grates in the bed of the truck.
The three men admitted to police they had been stealing them from the area of East 40th and Superior Avenue and in the area around where they were caught.
Police said the men would likely try and sell the covers to scrap yards for money.
Officers said they didn't have any reports of cars crashing into the open holes.
The street department was notified and they will replace the covers as they are discovered.
