A Cleveland area youth coach is depending on the community that he helped build to now help him restore an old church.

Bob Nance wants to convert the building into a basketball gym and learning center. It is located in the 8000 block of St. Clair Avenue.

"We have kids who have graduated from Princeton, graduated from Cornell,” Nance said.

Nance says it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.

"Well, I paid a dollar for it,” said Nance. "I call all the girls my nieces, and all the boys my nephews. If you have something you should give; if you learn, you should teach."

Nance continues to coach youth most days of the week at other locations, and believes this new goal to renovate the old church will be a success.

"I pray that one day we can get it up,” said Nance. "I’ve never had a kid I couldn’t touch."
