The new Innerbelt Bridge opened to all traffic ahead of schedule Saturday evening. ODOT originally said the bridge would open Monday morning.
Traffic both eastbound and westbound on Interstate 90 is now using the first span of the new Innerbelt Bridge. Crews will soon begin work on the second span, which is set to open in 2016.
ODOT officials sent out a special message to Cleveland after reopening the bridge Saturday. It said, "Thank you Cleveland for your patience as we've implemented these changes."
The reopening of the Innerbelt Bridge came just in time for the PINK concert at Quicken Loans Arena Saturday night and the Browns game at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday.
