Ronald Hudson has been working on plans to help military veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome. He believes the remedy is not in prescription pills, but in medical marijuana.
"My entire premise of this has been PTSD veterans. I'm a veteran and I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2008,” said Hudson. "We were looking for something to stop taking VA drugs, it was really that simple. I make low dose edible products to replace daily prescription drugs."
Hudson said he began self-medicating with marijuana as a child, and it worked.
"I got lucky. Someone gave me a marijuana cigarette very young,” said Hudson.
Hudson has sold his product outside of Ohio. He said his low dose chocolate candy has 30 milligrams of medical cannabis mixed in. Hudson believes the mixture helps with epilepsy, pain and nausea, and he says it's calming.
"Like a lot of veterans, I was on psychotropic pills. I’d have anything the VA gave me,” said Hudson. "I extracted in South Vietnam, '75. I also extracted in Lebanon, 1976. I really think that’s where I got my injury."
Ronald lined up plans months ago to serve his candy. He wants a Cleveland-area spot to grow and sell. Hudson will need permits for cultivation, processing, and a dispensary.
"I need to be in the ground, in the ground by January 1."
Hudson wants to open a dispensary in Richmond Heights. He hopes to at least have his cultivation permit by November.
