Heavy snow knocks out power to thousands in east suburbs, police warn of dangerous road conditions

Power out, roads dangerous after storm

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Storm cleanup continues in the heights after heavy snow knocks out power to thousands.

Mayfield Heights police put out a reverse 911 call to residents Thursday morning warning them to stay of roads because so many trees and power lines are down.

Driving through Cleveland Heights, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights and Lyndhurst, our crew saw many tree branches and downed power lines blocking roads or being cleaned up by city crews and power crews.

Highland Heights Fire Lt. Peter Rowe said many individual power lines are down it could take days to get all the power restored.

The heavy snow combined with leaves still on trees dragged down trees and branches that knocked down power lines and blew out transformers.
