OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Olmsted Township police have identified the man's body found in a pond on April 17, half naked and tied to a concrete block and steel pipe, as Carl Edward Acoff Jr.
Acoff Jr. was reported missing out of Cleveland on March 27, but authorities are not sure how long his body may have been in the water on MacKenzie Road, not far from Cook Road.
"On April 17th after discovering the victim, the Olmsted Police Department immediately issued an ALLTERM message to law enforcement agencies describing the circumstances of the incident and a physical description of the victim," said Olmsted Township Police Chief John Mineck.
On April 19th Mineck said Cleveland police informed them they had a missing person who fit the description.
Acoff's family was notified. They positively identified him. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner gave police a positive DNA match.
Olmsted Township's police chief wouldn't provide many details because the investigation is ongoing. When asked if there were any suspects in the 20-year-old's death, he said he couldn't comment.
The chief did say he has several detectives working on the case.
Acoff's body was found with a Betty Boop tank top on, three bras, a light black hooded jacket and was nude from the waist down.
