Shidea Lane, the female passenger in the RTA assault case, is expected in Shaker Heights municipal court Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - Shidea Lane, the female passenger in the RTA assault case, had a court appearance scheduled for Thursday morning continued to a later date.
Lane is facing a disorderly conduct charge for her role in the Sept. 18 incident. She's pleaded not guilty.
On that day, RTA bus driver Artis Hughes picked up a group of riders at the Van Aken Transit Station. One of those passengers was Lane. According to a police report, Lane refused to pay a bus fare.
Hughes told police after arguing with her, she spit on him. In a video that went viral online, you can see a fight break out between the two. It also shows Hughes punching Lane.
Hughes was fired from his job in November.
Last month, a judge found him guilty of assault. He hasn't been sentenced yet, but faces up to six months behind bars or five years of probation.
