CLEVELAND - After conflicting reports given to News 5 by the Cleveland Police Department Sunday, authorities have confirmed that the 20-year-old woman who fell from a bar balcony on St. Patrick's Day is alive and is in critical condition.
Cleveland police Detective Reginald Lanton confirmed in an email to News 5 that the woman is listed in critical condition.
Lanton originally said in a press release Sunday morning that the woman had died. Later in the day, he said he was given conflicting information about her condition.
Megan Keefe, 20, fell from a bar balcony inside Spirits Restaurant & Bar on West 6th Street around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Police are still investigating the incident but said foul play is not suspected.
Keefe's Facebook page says she is a nursing student at Cuyahoga Community College. She also works for the Brew Garden in Middleburg Heights.
Spirits Bar was closed by the Cleveland Fire Department for unsafe railings, a blocked exit and out of date fire extinguishers and remained closed as of Monday.
