They prayed, sang and remembered
Dozens gather for a vigil on March 25, 2013 on East 93rd Street in Cleveland, where 20-year-old Jazmine Trotter’s body was found.
CLEVELAND - A vigil was held Monday evening for 20-year-old Jazmine Trotter whose battered body was found Sunday under the porch of an abandoned house in Cleveland.
More than 100 family, friends and community members came to the house on East 93rd Street to pray and remember Trotter. A memorial began growing on the porch.
Many family members spoke of the young woman and remembered her as a happy, sweet person that did not believe in littering this neighborhood she cared so much about.
"She would walk back and forth every day, and then Friday, we just didn't hear nothing from her. She didn't ever make it to work," said her mother, Monique Williams.
"She's a mother, a sister, a daughter... And if you all know anything, you all got to say something. There are so many people out here that love her, man," said her sister through a megaphone.
The family is pleading with anyone that has information to step forward and report it to Cleveland police at 216-623-5464.
