A human case of West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Parma, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Four other probable causes of the virus have appeared in Ohio this year.
It is not uncommon for infected mosquitoes and human cases to pop up this time of year, according to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. The Board of Health says infected mosquitoes have been trapped in several communities in Cuyahoga County and at least 29 others throughout the state.
Health officials say the infection rate is moderate this year. Residents are urged to take precautions, especially while partaking in outdoor activities.
Symptoms of west nile include high fever, headaches, muscle aches, vomiting and loss of appetite. If you have symptoms that persist between two and 15 days after a mosquito bite, seek medical attention.
