16-year-old girl killed in crash involving cement truck on Route 528 in Geauga County

THOMPSON, Ohio - A teenager was killed in a crash that involved a cement truck and a car in Geauga County Tuesday morning.

The collision happened at the intersection of State Route 528 and Moseley Road in Thompson Township at about 8:12 a.m.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Amanda Kamposek of Madison failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of a cement truck. The truck struck Kamposek's Chevy Cavalier, forcing both vehicles off the side of SR 528.

The medical examiner's office pronounced Kamposek dead at the scene. Troopers said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the truck, 61-year-old Brian Shank of Painesville, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The patrol said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Moseley Road at Route 528 was closed for hours after the crash.
