Geauga County Humane Society's Rescue Village is getting creative in its attempts to raise money to support a family of horses, by organizing a pony baby shower.

The mother and father horses were rescued from what staffers call "a situation of extreme neglect," last spring.Their foal had starved to death.

Shortly after arriving at the Rescue Village barn, parents Nevra and Cassanova were found to be expecting once again.

Cillian, the new addition to the family, was born on March 29.

Rescue Village hopes its pony baby shower on Saturday will bring awareness to a crowd funding campaign to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of caring for the Nevra and Cillian. Organizers say expenses already exceed $12,000.
