Fire at Don Parsons Marina in Vermilion Sunday ruled accidental, causes about $300,000 in damages

VERMILION, Ohio - Officials are investigating what may have caused a fire to break out at a marina in Vermilion Sunday afternoon.

The Vermilion Fire Department said they responded to a fire at Don Parsons Marina, located at 636 Sandusky Street, just after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Crews could see smoke upon arrival and called for mutual aid from the Vermilion Township Fire Department.

Flames burned a workshop building at Parsons' Marina during the business's busy season, according to a news release. It ruined a sailing ship.

No one was injured in the fire.

Officials estimate the damage to be around $300,000.

The State Fire Marshal's Office ruled the fire accidental, according to a news release.

Parsons' Marina has been in business for 100 years, providing service along the Vermilion River.
