Claggett Middle School put on lockdown after .22 caliber bullet found in hallway

MEDINA, Ohio - Claggett Middle School was put on lockdown Monday morning after a .22 caliber bullet was found in the hallway.

The entire building was searched by law enforcement and administrative staff, but no additional ammunition or any weapon was found.

Superintendent Randy Stepp said students that went to Mohican were evacuated from the bus while it was searched. Nothing further was found there.

At this time, the person responsible for bringing the bullet to school has not been identified.  The student(s) who inappropriately brought the bullet to school will face disciplinary consequences based on the findings, Stepp said.

"We ask all parents to please have conversations with their children regarding the dangers of bullets, guns and other paraphernalia.  It is also important to stress the seriousness of bringing such items to school," explained Stepp.
