A 60-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning after he stepped in front of a cement truck, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the pedestrian, 60-year-old Brian J. Spiller of Hiram, crossed in front of the truck and was struck around 9 a.m. on State Route 82 in Mantua Township.

Authorities pronounced Spiller dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said.  Alcohol use is not suspected.

The incident is under investigation.
