Teen, two women taken to the hospital after head on crash in Richland County

Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that sent three people to the hospital, two of whom are suffering life threatening injuries.

The crash happened on US 42 near Cedarwood Drive in Lexington around 10 a.m. The road was closed off for about three and a half hours, but have since reopened.

Troopers say a 2011 gray Dodge Durango was driving southbound on US 42 when she veered left of center and hit an oncoming car - a 2003 silver Jeep Cherokee.

The 49-year-old driver of the Durango was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield with non-life threatening injuries.

The 53-year-old driver of the Jeep was also taken to OhioHealth Mansfield. She suffered life threatening injuries. Her 14-year-old passenger was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield and later transferred to Nationwide Children's hospital with life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
