We've heard of destination weddings, Vegas weddings and fairytale weddings - but how about a Halloween wedding?
The Akron Municipal Court is offering area couples the opportunity to marry at a historic venue on October 31.
Akron Municipal Court Judge Kathryn Michael will perform the Halloween weddings at the Akron Civic Theatre from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Costumes are welcome!
Appointments to say "I Do" are first-come, first-served and must be scheduled and paid for before October 31.
Couples must obtain a marriage license before their "boo-tiful" vows are exchanged from the Summit County Probate Court. Then, a cashonly ceremony fee must be paid at the Akron Municipal Court Clerk's Office in Room 837 of the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center. The fee is $25 for those in the court's jurisdiction: Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township,Lakemore and the Summit County portion of Mogadore. The fee jumps up to $40 for those ousidethe jurisdiction.
Once couples pay the fee, they need to take their receipt to Room 901 in the Stubbs building to get a time slot for their big day.
The Akron Civic Theatre asks that the Main Street entrance be used on the day of the ceremony. No professional photographers are permitted, but each couple will receive a digital images of the ceremony, courtesy of the court.
