Black bear invades Wayne County neighborhood, snacks on bird seed

DOYLESTOWN, Ohio - A black bear made a Wayne County neighborhood his home for the night.

Friday at about 9 p.m., Doylestown police said neighbors reported seeing the bear on Homan Drive.

Police said the black bear made its way into the area, ate some bird seed and was just hanging out in the area.

The bear was spotted again by Doylestown police early Saturday morning, and then around 10 a.m. a resident spotted the bear on Kepler Road in New Franklin and shared the picture with NewsChannel 5.

No injuries or damage have been reported.

Officers are in the area trying to assess the situation.

There's no word yet if this is the same black bear spotted in other northeast Ohio communities – Bath Township, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls Wickliffe and Willoughby.
