Local leaders in Wooster are planning a peaceful rally after fliers from a wing of the Ku Klux Klan were found throughout the city.
In the last several weeks, the fliers were found in various locations, including inside plastic bags with candy next to a playground, a drug store and near a city park.
The fliers are from East Coast Knights of the True Invisible Empire and read, "I'm proud to be white! There is no need to feel guilty because of the past!"
Following the violence in Charlottesville, cities across the U.S., most recently in Boston, continue to hold rallies calling for unity and peace.
John Clay, president of the NAACP Wooster/Orville Chapter, feels the fliers are blatantly racist.
"I really didn't believe that at this stage of my life, or should I say I didn't want to believe that racism would be so alive," Clay said.
Pastor Jacob Dodson of the Wooster Mennonite Church is one of several religious leaders taking part in scheduled weekend rally by the gazebo downtown.
"There are individual implications for all of us in the community when these [fliers] are being circulated. We care about the culture here and don't want change to emerge," Pastor Dodson said.
The NAACP, community leaders and religious leaders organized the non-partisan rally to display unity and peace. It will start at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.
Organizers are expecting 100 to 200 people at the rally.
