Two teen girls plead guilty in Steubenville rape Twitter threat case

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two teenage girls have been sentenced to probation after guilty pleas in the case of threatening Tweets sent after a guilty verdict in an Ohio rape case.

The tweets sent in March had threatened homicide and bodily harm against a girl raped by two high school football players.

Sara Gasser, one of the girls' defense attorney, said Thursday that charges of intimidation of a witness and aggravated menacing were dropped.

Gasser says the two 16-year-old girls admitted to a single misdemeanor charge of telecommunications harassment and were placed on six months probation.

The tweets were sent March 17, the day a judge found the two football players guilty of raping the West Virginia girl after an alcohol-fueled party last summer.
