Mogadore schools levy fails by almost 200 votes with both Summit and Portage counties against it

CLEVELAND - UPDATE: The original version of this story reported that the Mogadore LSD levy failed by a single vote. We incorrectly reversed the "for" and "against" vote tallies in Summit County, which gave us the wrong tally. We sincerely regret the error and have updated the story below accordingly.

Mogadore Local School District will not get the 5.9 mill levy it wanted because voters in the village, which straddles both Summit and Portage counties, rejected the proposal.

Summit County voted to against the levy 375 to 468, and Portage County voted against it 249 to 155 for a total of 717 "no" votes to 530 "yes" votes.

More than 200 school levies appeared on ballots across Ohio. Many districts are trying to make up for huge budget cuts from the state and federal level.
