Tribe fans have several options for affordable ways to get to the game

Free Tribe shuttle from Ohio City returns for 2013

CLEVELAND - For the second year, the Cleveland Indians, in partnership with RTA, Ohio City Inc. and the city of Cleveland will offer a free shuttle from the Ohio City area to Progressive Field for Friday and Saturday Indians games, with the addition of Thursday night home games for 2013.

"One of our commitments is to make the fans the focus of our actions," said Indians President Mark Shapiro in a press release. "Our main goal is to provide convenience and value to our fans so they're able to have memorable experiences at Progressive Field. In all our market research, one of the significant barriers to entry into Downtown Cleveland and Progressive Field has been access to transportation," Shapiro said. "There are many safe, reliable and cost-effective means to get to our ballpark."

The shuttle will operates one hour before and one hour after each game and will also will operate on Opening Day for two hours before the game and one hour after.

Fans can pick up the shuttle at the corner of West 25th Street and Market Ave., near the West Side Market. The shuttle then drops fans off near the Indians Team Shop and Gate D along Ontario Avenue.

Folks coming downtown to Progressive Field can also take advantage of the RTA, which offers affordable bus and rapid transit options from outlying points to downtown Cleveland.

RTA's HealthLine connects University Circle to Public Square, while bus routes reach as far as Strongsville, Highland Heights and Beachwood. RTA's Rapid connects inner-ring suburbs and downtown Cleveland, while free trolleys serve much of downtown.

The Great Lakes Brewing Company's "Fatty Wagon" (it runs on the restaurant's vegetable oil) will also operate for games Monday-Saturday.

If biking is your thing, the new bike lane on the Lorain-Carnegie bridge, which transports riders from Ohio City and parts west to the Gateway District, is ready for riding this season and bike racks have been installed on Gateway Plaza.

Parking in the Gateway East garage (next to Progressive Field) is $12 when purchased in advance. Gameday parking, without an advance purchase, is available as space permits.
