Fans react to rumors of Miami Heat's LeBron James returning to Cleveland

CLEVELAND - Rumors of LeBron James returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers after his contract with the Miami Heat is up, had fans reacting differently but strongly to whether they would take the Akron-native back.

"Hell no," is what Sheila Massey shouted when NewsChannel5 asked that question. Those on the other hand said, "Heck yeah!"

That was Anthony Monaco's response outside of the Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday adding, "…because he's the best player in the NBA right now."

But Sammy Williams said, "I don't think it's fair to us to have him come back because he just went for the money instead of actually caring for his fans."

That's the back-and-forth that went on amongst Cavalier fans before Wednesday's game and that "back-and-forth" seemed to know no age.

Nine-year-old Paul Hannon said a stern "no" to James' return.  When asked why, he told NewsChannel5, "… because he's a traitor!"

Jack Wilson's answer wasn't as harsh, but a younger Cavs fan himself, he said, "He kind of left rudely.  He never asked to be released.  He just said he was leaving."

Massy told NewsChannel5, "Even if the team and the coaches would take him back, the fans would never take him back."

But Bryce Sheppert, another young fan, said those still holding a grudge need to forgive, "… because we'd probably win a championship with him."

Benji Justic said, "He'd definitely have a lot of fun playing with Kyrie Irving. I think it would be really fun to see him back. We'd have a really good team."

"Watch him play, he's the best player - not as good as Jordan but he's the best player in the NBA right now," said Monaco.

But for every "yay" Wednesday, there was a "nay."

Juan Carlos said, "No! It's like making a mistake again.  It's like, let's say going back to your ex,  You guys broke up for a reason, why take him back?"

For now the rumors are just rumors. James' contract isn't said to expire until Summer 2014.
