Return of Brownie the Elf: Cleveland Browns unveil mascot Sunday at halftime vs. Bengals

CLEVELAND - After hints strewn across social media, the Browns have now made it official - the elf is back.

Brownie the Elf was unveiled in mascot form at halftime of Sunday's game vs. the Bengals, gracing the field in signature orange and brown garb.

On Friday, the team posted a photo of a striped arm and hand holding up a Browns helmet with the caption: "Catch the #Browns take on the #Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium this Sunday at 1pm. Who knows who you'll see there!"

The black stripes are signature of the elf that is entrenched in Browns history. Variations of the elf in brown and white, then brown and orange clothing were the team's primary logo from 1948-1969.

An angry elf running with a football, the secondary logo from 1960-9, should be enough to strike fear into any opponent (or young child).

After disappearing for many years, the elf re-emerged on a 60th anniversary training camp logo in 2006.
