Most Memorable Stories: HIV/Aids and its impact on African American Women in Northeast Ohio, and reporting live from New York City on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Awards/Honors: In 2021, Danita won a regional Edward R. Murrow award for her podcast Voices for Change. To date she's won 9 Emmy Awards for her work as an anchor/reporter at News 5. She's the recipient of the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club. In 2016 she started her own non-profit organization S.H.I.N.E. to help empower women and students. shine-now.org

Danita received national recognition for her work in the community when she was honored by the organization Black Women in Sisterhood for Action at the "Salute to Distinguished Black Women 2006" gala in Washington D.C.

In 2010, Danita was honored to receive the prestigious “Woman of Vision” award from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women for her commitment to community service. Recognized as one of the Outstanding Women in Ministry in Cuyahoga County by the National Council of Negro Women.

Danita was recognized for her work by being inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2010.

Hobbies & Interests: Going to concerts, musicals and trying new restaurants.
