Gordon Square gives sweet treats to Detroit Avenue drivers as 'Captain America' filming closes roads

CLEVELAND - The Gordon Square neighborhood will be giving sweet treats to Detroit Avenue drivers Thursday and Friday as "Captain America: Winter Soldier" filming has created a commuter conundrum.

"The biggest goal is to relax and smile and get through the commute with a little more grace and caffeine," said Gypsy Beans & Baking company owner Niki Gillota in a news release.

On June 6 and June 7, a special drive-thru location will be set up on West 64th Street and Detroit Avenue in Cleveland's Gordon Square neighborhood where sweet treats will be offered.

Morning commuters will be offered a free coffee and mini muffin from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. both days. On the ride home, Sweet Moses Treats will offer a free scoop of handmade ice cream from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

"Our hope is that new commuters will have the opportunity to enjoy the area as a destination, with some of the best entertainment and restaurants in town," Cleveland City Councilman Matt Zone said.
