COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio school districts would be able to put levies on the ballot to fund school security under a bill that passed the state Senate Wednesday.
Senate Bill 42 authorizes the creation of local levies for the sole purpose of funding additional school safety and security.
"Currently, the law does not allow districts to initiate a levy specifically for school safety," said State Sen. Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville, who co-sponsored the bill. "This bill will give voters the opportunity to raise funds to increase the security of their local schools when necessary."
The bill now moves to the Ohio House of Representatives.
