AKRON, Ohio — Two students at an Akron middle school were arrested Friday morning following rumors of a gun on campus, according to an Akron Public Schools spokesperson.
Innes CLC was put on a “Safe School Watch” for around 90 minutes while school officials and authorities searched the school, officials said.
During the search, authorities located a toy plastic gun. Two students were taken into custody and charged with inducing panic.
The ages and grades of the students has not been released.
School officials are asking parents to remind children to "report any threats or rumors that concern them or you to an adult at school or home, especially if he or she has first-hand knowledge."
There will be an increase of security at the school for the “foreseeable future to ensure a safe learning environment," school officials said.
