Akron art show ‘Clever Little Devils' looks at lessons young people learn from advertising

AKRON, Ohio - Is it merely cute, quirky nostalgia? Or does advertising that's focused on young people teach them skewed lessons about American culture?

Starting Friday night, the Box Gallery in Akron hosts work from more than 40 artists—from locals to nationally-recognized graffiti writers—which explore the issues that arise around the ads "they consumed as children."

That's according to the Facebook event page for "Clever Little Devils," an exhibition sponsored by Artists of Rubber City and curated by Rob Lehr.

It begins with a reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. November 15 on the 3 rd floor of the Summit ArtSpace building and runs through December 31, 2013.
