AKRON, Ohio - An unusual looking Ohio hotel built in former grain silos is about to close.
Akron's Quaker Square Inn is ready to shut its doors to guests as of Sunday.
While public lodging is about to end, the complex will be converted into additional University of Akron student housing.
The university bought Quaker Square in 2007 for nearly $23 million and has been using some of the round silo rooms for student housing.
Quaker Square was built as a Quaker Oats factory in 1932, with 36 silos.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, (
bit.ly/11Sfjtq), private investors developed the property into a dining, shopping and entertainment complex in 1975.
