Cleveland police investigating an evening shooting in Tremont neighborhood

Cleveland police are investigating a shooting in Tremont that left a woman wounded and an SUV full of bullet holes.

The shooting happened just minutes before 11p.m. Tuesday at the corner of West 5th Street and Jefferson Avenue.

Police said the 38-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Her condition was not released by police but neighbors told News 5 that police had told them she was in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

At the scene, a resident told News 5 his SUV was hit by the gunfire, and the shooting was like nothing he had experienced in the 2 years he had lived in the neighborhood.

The man's SUV was parked near the corner in the street was hit by at least 5 bullets, including one that went through the windshield and through the driver's headrest.

Police used around 15 evidence markers to mark shell casings they located from the shooting.

No suspect information has been released.
