Hernandez Warren indicted by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office for 1984 murder of Gloria Pointer

CLEVELAND - The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office has indicted the man Cleveland police said kidnapped, raped and killed 14-year-old Gloria Pointer in 1984.

Hernandez Warren is charged with aggravated murder, rape, kidnapping and more in connection to the nearly 30 year old crime.

On Dec. 6, 1984, Pointer called a classmate to walk with her to Harry E. Davis School. But at 7:30 a.m., the friend said Pointer never came and notified the principal when she got to school.

Witnesses said they saw the victim walking on Orville Avenue toward her school with a man following behind her. Then, the two disappeared near 10515 Orville Ave.

Pointer's body was found around 10:30 a.m. at the bottom of a fire escape stairwell by an apartment building custodian.

The prosecutor's office said Pointer's clothing resulted in a DNA profile being developed and subsequently matched Warren.

Warren was arrested on May 13 for the crimes. Prosecutors are looking into the death penalty.
