A man was assaulted with a gun on West 117th Street early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m., police arrived at the scene and found the man in the parking lot of Highland Apartments at 3601 West 117th Street.
Police originally told News 5 on the scene that the man was shot in the head but later reports by police said the man was assaulted on the head with a gun.
Officers said the man was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.
Officers said he was still alert and able to talk as he was being transported to the hospital.
Police are not sure what led up to the assault.
