Miners at Cargill Salt Mine in Cleveland sent home for movement in mine's ceiling

CLEVELAND - Mining at the Cargill Salt Mine in Cleveland has been suspended since Monday.

Approximately 100 miners were sent home Monday after movement was recorded on the Cargill Salt Mine ceiling, said Mark Klein with Cargill Salt Mine

Cargill has consultants on scene with special equipment to help detect movement, according to Klein. It's unknown when mining will resume.

Cargill Mine, located beneath Lake Erie, has been operating for more than 50 years.
