Suspect wanted in shooting at Family Dollar store now in custody

A 22-year-old, wanted for a shooting at a Cleveland Family Dollar store, is now in custody. Cleveland Police picked up Ryan Dorty on Thursday along Denison Avenue near West 84th Street during a warrant sweep. Troopers with the Ohio State Patrol, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's department, and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police assisted Cleveland Police in the arrest.

Officers say Dorty was also involved in the robbery of a Subway restaurant just two days before the Family Dollar shooting. The clerk at the Family Dollar store was shot. Investigators have not released the victim's name or condition.

Investigators say Dorty may be a possible suspect in other robberies on Cleveland's west side. Cleveland Police is asking that anyone with information on Dorty's possible involvement in other crimes to contact investigators at 216.623.5218.
