Boy, 13, arrested in recent Cocktails Lounge alleged hate crime attack on Cleveland's west side

CLEVELAND - Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with an alleged hate crime attack that occurred at the Cocktails Lounge on Cleveland's west side.

According to police, the most recent incident happened Friday night at the bar on Detroit Avenue near W. 93rd Street.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that a group of boys were outside of the bar near the patio where the victim was serving drinks.

The juveniles began throwing rocks at the victim and other patrons, while yelling "you faggots better get out of here," according to police.

The juveniles then fled on foot as the patrons in the bar chased them. 

Police said the group of juveniles returned a short time later, with sticks and a broom, threatening to attack.

The victim then contacted police and gave descriptions of the suspects.

Police said a 13-year-old boy, who matched one description, was located at Detroit Ave. and W. 87th Street. He was arrested on an assault charge.

The other suspects are still at large.
