Cleveland woman Holly McFeeture faces trial in antifreeze poisoning death of fiance Matthew Podolak

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland woman who coached youth baseball is standing trial for allegedly killing the father of their two children by poisoning his iced tea with antifreeze in 2006.

Holly McFeeture contends the death of her 31-year-old fiance, Matthew Podolak, was suicide. Her trial began Tuesday on charges of aggravated murder and contaminating a substance for human consumption or use.

Prosecutor Brian McDonough told the jury a man McFeeture dated later contacted police in 2008 and said she had admitted putting something in Podolak's drinks.

Attorneys for the 35-year-old McFeeture are expected to argue that Podolak, who suffered from depression, drank antifreeze to kill himself.

The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reports that Podolak's manner of death was changed to homicide, based on the tip, and McFeeture was indicted in 2010.
