'Draft Day' holds casting call in Garfield Heights for football player extras

Players perform drills for talent scouts

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Talent scouts for 'Draft Day' held another casting call Saturday, this time on the gridiron at Garfield Heights High School.

Football players with college experience were put through non-contact passing, blocking and tackling drills to see if they had what it took to be extras in the movie starring Kevin Costner.

Costner will play the role of Cleveland Browns general manager looking to secure the number one draft pick.

Players trying out as extras were required to be between the ages of 18 and 25.

Ricky Crawford of Columbus played wide receiver and tight end at Ohio State from 2008-2010. This was his first time trying out for a movie role.

"The fact that I may have a chance to do something with a movie, I don't know what can happen, so I'm pretty excited what could happen," said Crawford.

Brian Albrecht of Charleston, S.C. was a defensive end at Ohio University from 2008-2011. Showing up for the casting call enabled Brian to meet up with other players he competed against.

"I'm a diehard Browns fan, been working out," said Albrecht. "Just kind of feel like getting active and playing some ball."

It is not too late for extras to tryout for a part in 'Draft Day.'

"We continue to cast throughout filming," said Real Style Talent Agency partner Kathy Remski. "Even if they are not a football player, we would love to see all different types of people."
