NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio - A 15-year-old girl who died in a crash on the Ohio Turnpike in North Royalton Thursday has been identified.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the girl as Leah Robinson, of Bowie, Md.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 2008 Ford Expedition carrying seven people was traveling westbound on the left lane of the turnpike at milepost 166, 7 miles west of Interstate 77, when the driver lost control on the wet pavement, went off the right side of the road, and flipped after striking an embankment.
As the vehicle was overturning, troopers said, Robinson was ejected from the third row. They said the vehicle came to a rest on the north side of the roadway in a ditch.
All seven people inside the vehicle were taken to Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights.
The teen was pronounced dead at the hospital. The six other occupants suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed for about 45 minutes.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
