Santa and local firefighters deliver Christmas toys to kids in Metro Hospital

CLEVELAND - Kids in pediatrics get a surprise welcome from Saint Nick and a pair of local firefighters. They brought some Christmas cheer for their stay in Metro Hospital.

For the fifth year in a row, local firemen have collected toys and donations. They start a week before Thanksgiving and they collect for a month. This year they collected almost 8,000 toys and $7,000.

Santa and his two elves first visited kids that are on the in patient pediatric floor. Then they made there way down to the out patient pediatrics floor. The kids faces lit up at the sight of their visitors. You could also see the big smile on the firefighters' faces when they handed out a toy to a little one.

Dave Barrett, who is a fireman from Rescue Squad 2, says "When we see people it is always when they are at their worst. So its nice to be able to give back to the community and to see the smiles on the kids faces."

"That is a good thing from them and for the kids. It is good  to see some of the kids toys at this time of the year. Because there are some kids who don't have toys," aid Dayana Salmero.
