Skate Dance Dream coming to Lakewood

Skating, dance stars coming to Serpentini Arena

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - When Parker Pennington was competing and performing he had a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform alongside stars during one of Scott Hamilton's shows.

Years later, Pennington, a four-time U.S. Figure Skating champion, took that experience as the basis for his own production and now hundreds of young skaters in Northeast Ohio have had the opportunity to skate in his "Skate Dance Dream" show.

Pennington's concept behind his shows is to combine figure skating with a dance show while incorporating local talent with nationally recognized skating and dance stars.

That idea has translated into a four successful shows and the fifth will take place on Sunday May 19 at 7 p.m. at Serpentini Arena at Winterhurst Ice RInk.

The show is co-produced by Pennington and Marissa Diaz, coach and Learn-to-Skate Director.  This show is special for Pennington and Diaz as they both began skating at Winterhurst 20 years ago.

"It's true what they say, ‘you always find your way back home', and for us, the chance to make a difference and help inspire young performers in the same rink our dreams first began makes this show very special," said Pennington in a press release.

"Skate Dance Dream" presented by The Hampton Inn will feature headliner "So You Think You Can Dance" finalist, Gev Manoukian as well as U.S. National Silver Medalist and 2014 Olympic figure skating hopeful, Richard Dornbush, among other top national performers and performances by local skaters and dancers from The Dance Centre by Heidi Glynias and the Winterhurst skating program.
