Bid to be among first to ride Cedar Point's new roller coaster GateKeeper

SANDUSKY, Ohio - Cedar Point is giving first dibs on its newest roller coaster to the highest bidders.

The amusement park is holding an auction with local charities for the chance to be among the first to ride its new winged roller coaster GateKeeper.

Interested coaster lovers can place their bid through either the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital or the United Way of Erie County. The 32 highest bidders for each charity will earn a seat on the coaster's first ride on Cedar Point's Opening Day on May 11.

Bidding starts at $100 and runs through Monday, May 6 at 9 p.m.

The top bidders will also receive the following perks along with their ride, Cedar Point says:

- Complimentary admission and early entry to Cedar Point on May 11
- Complimentary VIP parking
- Breakfast
- Souvenir T-shirt
- Coupon for a free copy of the "on-ride" photo
- Commemorative medallion.
- Coupon for purchasing additional tickets to Cedar Point on Opening Day for their guests

The 170-foot tall GateKeeper will soar over the park, reaching speeds of around 67 MPH.
