GRAFTON TWP., Ohio - A man who was with the victim of a deadly Grafton Township crash the morning it happened is now facing charges.
Tyler Gusky, 19, was charged with underage possession and underage consumption of alcohol after a traceback investigation launched following a March crash on State Route 57 that left 18-year-old Dominic Zunis dead.
At the scene of the crash, troopers said they were approached by Gusky, who told them he was with Zunis that morning. Officers obtained a search warrant for Gusky's car after they said it was apparent he had been drinking alcohol.
In the search of the car, authorities said they found a large amount of empty beer and liquor containers, as well as an open partially full bottle of Captain Morgan Coconut Rum.
Troopers said they found Zunis' car submerged in a pond near State Route 57 at Mennell Road on the morning of March 23. Zunis' blood alcohol content was .172 at the time of the deadly crash, according to a report filed by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
Both of Gusky's charges are first degree misdemeanors and carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
