Listen to 911 call: Elyria Midway Mall carjacking victim spots, chases suspect; police make arrest

ELYRIA, Ohio - In a remarkable twist to a story broke last week, the victim of a violent mall carjacking spotted -- and helped apprehend -- her attacker while she was shopping on Black Friday.

Elyria Police moved in to make the arrest.

This all started last Tuesday afternoon at 4 when a 22-year-old woman leaving work at the Midway Mall.

The Best Buy employee was attacked by a man who pulled open her unlocked car door, choked her and said she would die if she didn't give him money.

She told him her purse was in the trunk, and when he went to look, she took off running and managed to get away.

The victim was on FaceTime on her phone with her boyfriend during the attack, and the boyfriend heard her scream and caught a glimpse of the attacker.

Now, in a stunning twist, three days later, on Black Friday, the victim and her boyfriend spotted the man in the parking lot of a Walmart at Chestnut Commons in Elyria.

The couple called 9-1-1 and chased the man.

Elyria Police got there fast and arrested 44-year-old Scott Daugherty.

Police said the suspect had drugs on him, and that it was possible he had committed the robbery to buy more.

The suspect had stolen the woman's car, a 1998 Teal Ford Escort, during the car jacking,

The car has not been found.
